Rocktober day 16
Oct. 16th, 2011 12:57 pmHave some covers today:
Any Major Dude Will Tell You (Steely Dan cover) by Wilco
Have you ever seen a squonk's tears? Well, look at mine
The Squonk. Thanks, Steely Dan!
Straight Up (Paula Abdul cover) by Halifax
I've been a fool before / wouldn't like to get my love caught in the slammin' door / how about some information--please
From the "Punk Goes 80s" album.
Across the Universe (Beatles cover) by Cyndi Lauper
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes / they call me on and on across the universe
Of all the covers of this song, I think this one is my favorite.
After the Gold Rush (Neil Young cover) by k.d. lang
Look at Mother Nature on the run in the nineteen seventies
I love how lush and dreamy this version is.
The One I Love (REM cover) by Sufjan Stevens
This one goes out to the one I love / this one goes out to the one I left behind / a simple thought to occupy my mind / this one goes out to the one I love
Notable for being one of the first REM songs with easy to understand lyrics. :D I like how simple Sufjan makes the song.
Photograph (Def Leppard cover) by Jason Falkner
You got some kinda hold on me / you're all wrapped up in mystery / So wild so free so far from me / you're all I want, my fantasy
I dunno, I don't come across a lot of Def Leppard covers, and it's pretty fun. :D
My Sharona (The Knack cover) by Veruca Salt
Keeping it a mystery gets to me / running down the length of my thighs Sharona
People always sing this song to me. And I'm like, but it's not spelled that way. :(
