Nov. 17th, 2022 04:47 pmSometimes I will talk about books!
What I've just finished
I talked about Verity here. I also read Practicing Mindfulness: 75 Essential Meditations to Reduce Stress, Improve Mental Health, and Find Peace in the Everyday by Matthew Sockolove, since I've been doing a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course at work. AND! I finished The Winterknight trilogy by Katherine Arden, which I tore through, and am completely obsessed with. Medieval Russia fantasy and folklore!
What I'm reading now
How to Be a Victorian: A Dawn-to-Dusk Guide to Victorian Life by Ruth Goodman. It's long and a little dry, but I like historical info, so I'm moving along. I'm also reading The Parallel series by Elizabeth O'Roark, which is soulmates/reincarnation/time travel, which are some of my favorite tropes, so I'm loving it.
What I'm reading next
I think I might finally tackle The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab, and then The Empress of Time by Kylie Lee Baker.

Verity, by Colleen Hoover
Nov. 15th, 2022 08:59 pmThis book was not just a wild ride, but it was completely insane. All my notes are either "oh boy" or "BONKERS."
Like, it opens in NYC with a dude getting his head squashed like a grape when he falls in traffic and no one around him even blinks an eye. Evidently this happens in NY on a thrice daily basis so everyone is immune?
I honestly thought this was going to be a big part of the book, but it is NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN, so we start off with crazy and go full on BONKERS within a few chapters.
( Or, in the words of Gwen Stefani, this shit is bananas... )
