Hello! I could tell you about all the drama going on in my house (technically outside of the house) right now, but it is too long and involved and makes me crazy to think about. Basically, two things can sum the whole thing up:
1) Real life is not a reality show. Behaving like you think you're on a reality show is unappealing, horrible, and basically just demonstrates how crazy you really are.
2) There are times when life and the things we have to do seem hard, and overwhelming, and impossible. I understand this and have found myself in this position before. But if you are a woman, the solution to all these hard things is not to just lie down and say, "I can't do it! I need a man!" and ignore all the very real problems you have in your life until a man can come along to fix them.
Honestly. You don't want to know.

Work is going well! My boss let me go home early last Friday, because she had been out sick all week with the flu (sweeping my company like the plague) and I had filled in for her on several critical issues with the president of the company. She said, "I just want you to know I really appreciate you. I appreciate you and all you do."
This is such a change from the last batch of asshats I used to work with, that I was a bit overwhelmed when she said it.
Speaking of the last batch of asshats, I had dinner with my former coworker and friend F last week, and she reports that the asshats are still asshatting about, that they can't keep anyone in my former position, and they have eliminated the position of my supervisor, after the last one quit and told them she wasn't taking their blaming bullshit anymore. Things are not going so well, F says. In fact, she is looking for another job herself.
Oh, how my heart breaks from them. Not.

Pick a character* I've written and I will give and explain the top five** ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them.
* Try to make it someone I've written (including characters I RP'ed) or recently in order for me to answer.

1) He's still pretty convinced that almost everything he thought and did was right, but he's willing to accept that he maybe went about things the wrong way.
2) He really did think he'd be able to kick Morgoth's ass pretty quickly - he's always been able to do just about everything he's ever put his mind too - so he was really shocked when things didn't go his way.
3) He recognizes that he went batshit insane, and he regrets things that he did while he was crazy. See above about willing to accept that he went about things the wrong way.
4) He is constantly, consciously, trying to control himself. He feels like, given the right opening, he could go crazy again.
5) He totally believes the hype - he's pretty much the smartest, strongest, most admirable person he knows. But he does try to keep that opinion under check now.
Lio (again, this is from our game):
1) He's extremely loyal. Once he's on your side, he's on your side for life.
2) However, if someone betrays him or someone he loves, it would take a lot to get back into his good graces. Once he's cut a person off, he's very cold.
3) He's basically a pretty happy, easy-going guy. He's got a hard job, but he likes it and does it well, even if he is under a bit of stress lately.
4) He's pretty passive in relationships. He tends to react as opposed to act.
5) Really loves fountains.

I like Lio, even if he is passive. But that probably helps him get along better with Turgon.

Susan!
2) Susan's quite brilliant. In the books, it says how her parents consider her "the pretty one" and the implication is that she's not as smart as the others. I think this really grated on her when she was back in England. In Narnia she's the true diplomat of the four, very savvy and knowledgeable about people, and she's like that in England as well.
3) Susan is beautiful, and she knows it. She's not particularly vain, but she's "girly" and loves beautiful things. As a Queen of Narnia, she's not afraid to use her beauty and her appeal to men, to make gains for her country. She just sees it as good strategy.
4) She very compassionate, which is where she gets the name "the Gentle." She hates seeing suffering, and doesn't like to cause it. That said, she's willing to fight to defend herself and Narnia - she just might take longer to get to the fighting point than her siblings, because she wants to consider every other option before she starts fighting. I think her compassion goes hand-in-hand with her practicality, actually. She likes to fix things and make them better, the best she can.
5) I like to ignore C.S. Lewis's wonky timeline, and believe that Susan and her sibs were in Narnia much longer than 15 years - that she married and had a family, and that was just one reason going back to England was so hard for her, and why returning in Prince Caspian was so painful - she says in the movie, "I had just got used to living in England" and being back in Narnia reminds her of all she lost the first time.
I don't think she ever actually forgot about Narnia - I think she remembers it very keenly and often painfully. I think she did what Aslan said, learn to live in England, and I think she called Narnia "a game we used to play" to indicate that she had moved on to living in the real world, and didn't think they should all dwell on Narnia so much when there was a real world they should be living in.
I think she was the one most suited to living in England, because of her practicality, and her people-savvy, and her ability to adapt. I think she was spared the trainwreck because of this. But I don't think she grew ragey and resentful and bitter at everything after the death of her family - I mean, I don't think that's something you ever get over, and I think she missed them every day for the rest of her life - but I think that she was able to move on and make a new, happy life for herself.
Wow, that is too much about Susan Pevensie. :D I just have lots of thoughts about her!

Edmund!
2) I think Edmund never forgets what happened during LWW, with the Witch and Aslan, but I don't think he's overwhelming guilt-stricken or haunted by it either. I think it makes him more cautious about trusting people, and I think he can be far more suspicious of things than is actually warranted, but I don't think he's a nervous wreck constantly haunted by the ghost of Jadis, and suffering from low self-esteem. I actually think Edmund has self-esteem coming out his ears. :D
3) Edmund's a writer, or perhaps more accurately, a diarist. He keeps detailed journals of his time in Narnia (and in England as well), and there's a running joke during the Pevensies' reign how no one could actually read an entire report by Edmund because they are so very thorough.
4) Edmund's not a loner, and he's usually pretty social, but he does like alone time, and he often goes off by himself in Narnia (he gets in trouble sometimes doing this, but it never deters him). He's also a little sarcastic, and probably the most easily irritated of his siblings.
5) I'm not sure I subscribe to fanon's spymaster!Edmund trope, although I do think he's pretty good at gathering information and keeping tabs on things. I just don't know that he's a master spy/ninja dude. That said, one of the ways Edmund and Tumnus come to resolve their relationship post-LWW is to work together on intelligence gathering.
