Kon's a little outraged when he finds a baby left in front of the Tower.
"Like, who DOES that with a baby? What if we were all off fighting some horribly dangerous villain for weeks on end, or what if half of us were dead and the other half of us were grounded, or what if one of us were trapped in the future and couldn't get back and the rest of us were all occupied looking for ways to get him back? What would have happened to this baby THEN? It could have been kidnapped or hurt or died! It's just not good for a baby to be left outside! She could have got rained on!"
"Kon," Tim says, and it's in that tone of voice that says Tim is trying to be incredibly patient but not quite succeeding. "If you keep waving the baby around like that, I'm pretty something worse than being rained on is going to happen to her."
"Oh. Right." And Kon looks down at the baby in his arms - which is weird because Kon is kind of afraid of babies to be honest but he couldn't just leave her outside to be RAINED ON - and she smiles at him, and reaches to tap his chin with her tiny fist and Kon falls utterly, totally, head-over-heels in love. "Ooo, she hit me, did you see that?"
But when he looks up at Tim, Tim is shaking his head. "No, no, no."
"No no no what? I didn't ask anything!"
"But you're going to. And the answer is no, we can't keep her."

Okay, so Fox Mulder's younger brother Sam was abducted when she was twelve and Sam was eight, and the rest of Fox's life has been shaped by that incident. She believes that Sam was abducted by aliens, and everyone else thinks she's crazy, basically. But Fox never gets over the loss of her brother, nor does she ever forget what she saw that night Sam went missing.
Fox grows up and joins the FBI, first as a profiler, and then later she's assigned to the X-Files, where among all the other unusal and unsolvable cases, she discovers ones that are very similar to Sam's abduction, and she becomes more determined than ever to find out what happened to her brother.
When she gets a new partner, Dr. Daniel Scully, Fox isn't sure if she can trust him, and Daniel is truly skeptical about aliens and conspiracies and paranormal activity and all the others things contained in the X-Files. But as Fox and Daniel's partnership develops and they learn to trust each other, it's Daniel who finds his life change by things he never thought he could believe in.
