Yuletide letter
Hello, Yuletide Writer!
First off, thanks so much for writing a story in one of these fandoms. I love them all, and will just be so glad to have any story for any of the requests.
In general, some things I love: great dialogue/witty banter, humor, stories that are bittersweet but still have happy, or at least hopeful endings. I love when stories make me laugh AND cry. I love canon explorations and world-building - what was going on here during this moment, and what was happening elsewhere, and backstory on people and things we only know a little about.
I love character studies and relationship (not just love, friendship, family, etc) stories - I always want to know more about these characters I love, why they did this or that, how they react in new situations, that kind of things. Caveat: I don't really love vignettes or navel-gazing pieces, where one character mulls for the entire story of his/her life decisions. I want interaction with other characters and dialogue.
I'm fine with romance (slash and het) and porn, but not in all the fandoms. I'll get a little more specific in each fandom. If romance/porn is not your thing, don't worry, I love gen stuff too.
I love crossovers, if they fit with the fandom, time-framewise, tone-wise - I've got some suggestions below. But no pressure if crossovers aren't your thing!
If character pieces aren't your thing, I am extremely happy with adventures of all sorts, or plotty gen stories. Like I said, I love all these characters and want to see them in action. :D
Things I'd not like in a fic: extremely grimdark stories. Unhappy endings. I like some hurt/comfort, but not character torture. Please no rape, non-con, mpreg, misogyny, extreme graphic violence, or character-bashing.
The Melendy Quartet by Elizabeth Enright
I would just like to know more, more, more about this family! Oliver, Cuffy, Father, Willy - all characters welcome. But Randy is my favorite, I have to say. I'd really like a story that feels like the books themselves.
These were some of my favorite books as a kid. I loved the characters and the fact that they were having adventures, but it was all real life, not a fantasy setting. I'd like to see what else happened to the Melendys - maybe a missing chapter from "And Then There Were Five" or something post-series, like Mona living in NYC and acting. Or maybe Randy starting her dance career or working as an artist! Or maybe a story set when they're all married with kids, like The Melendys: The Next Generation. :D I have no OTPs for this fandom, but romance would be fun, for any of them, but nothing too explicit. And no incest, please.
Space: Above and Beyond
I'd love to see a story featuring not only the four characters named above, but all the Wildcards. Maybe a missing ep, or a something post-series. Did the 58 reunite? Were Shane and Vanessa found? What happened to McQueen? Tell me all about it. :D
Pretty much the same thing I said in the request - I'd love to see an ensemble story, a missing ep, or what happened post-finale. Totally fine with darker or angsty stuff in this fandom, given the nature of it, and I'm good with romance and more explicit stuff here too, if that's something you want to write.
I could see a crossover here, maybe with Battlestar Galactica. The two shows had a similar tone and feel to me, even though the timeline is off.
Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild
We know that Pauline, Petrova and Posy went on to pursue their chosen careers at the end of the book - I'd love a story about them being separated, but still together in spirit, maybe how Pauline and Posy changed their vow, or how Petrova put the name of Fossil into the history books. All other characters are welcome, but the three sisters are my favorites.
Oh, those dancing Fossil girls! I would love anything you can tell me about them, character stuff, stories about their lives after the book, that kind of thing. Any kind of romance is fine, but nothing too explicit and no incest.
And since the Fossils appear, or are mentioned, in other Streatfeild books, like Curtain Up/Theater Shoes and The Painted Garden/Movie Shoes, crossovers with any of the Streatfeild books would be wonderful!
Austin & Murry-O'Keefe Families - Madeleine L'Engle
I know they're from different series, but I love all these characters. Any or all, I'm fine with it. I'd love to know more about Beezie - perhaps a story with her and Charles Wallace? Or tell me about Charles Wallace when he grows up. We know what Meg and the twins were up to, but we never see Charles.
I love all of MLE's books, and I'd be happy with any kind of story you come up with here - maybe Vicky as an adult? We know what happened to her sister Suzy when she grew up, but what did Vicky grow into? Did she marry Adam? Did she ever see Zachary Grey again?
For crossovers: we know these families cross and connect, even if the main characters never meet each other, but I think it would be fun to see Meg and Vicky meet up, or even Vicky and Polly, since they seem to be more of the same age.
I hope that helped and honestly, no pressure to fulfill any of the specific details! Anything you want to write in any of these fandoms will be great! I'm just happy to be getting a story from you.
