It’s written like a history book, which I normally like, but this has a writer/narrator who is fully invested in the extreme in-universe misogyny, and a perv to boot! Which is an ... interesting choice. Because at least in the novels when we get the misogyny/sexism of Westeros, there’s characters/examples to counter it, to show us just how harmful all of this is. Instead, in this history we just get all the awful shit presented straight, as, “well this is just how it is.”

Right? We get some of them, but even Good Queen Alysanne gets fucked over by her husband, and has no internal consistency as a character. I don’t get how GRRM loves this family so much, even with his professed love of “gray characters” and wants readers to love them too.
