Hello, people of the internet. You ask how I have been spending my time, well, I have been sending out resumes and... waiting to hear things. Mostly, I hear a resounding silence. Today, I got an rejection letter, and I actually was excited about it. Only because at least I knew there was a definitive answer, rather than just hoping to hear something for weeks. I know, I know, I am sad.

I also play around with Photoshop! (I know, I know, again, sad.)

You know the webcomic a softer world? Well, musesfool showed me remixes of that comic that people had done for the DCU, like so:



The deal is, you take the text from the comic, and add your own visuals to it.

So I said to myself, "Self, why don't you try that for your fandom?" And I did! Some results behind the cut (warning, lots of images):

I don't subscribe to fanon's love of paralyzed-by-guilt-Edmund, but I do think he has his moments of reflection.

I was playing around and did this one for Peter three different ways. unsuitenedt likes the first one best, but I think I like the other ones.









This one is my favorite, and I think it came out the best.

Now, I know I could have been sending more resumes, but still! It was a lot of fun! Everyone should do it, for Narnia or for their own fandom! And come post them in the comments here, it would make my day.

I went to a job fair today. I handed out a lot of resumes, picked up a lot of business cards, and will be making a lot of phone calls tomorrow. I am not optimistic about any of them. :(

Job fairs are really starting to depress me. :(

Considering this one was pretty much "big retail chains", "military recruiters", and "work from home selling X"... depressing is right. I gave resumes to the few places that didn't fall into the those categories, including a couple of corporate training places (been there, done that, got replaced) and a local telecom/ISP, and reminded Kelly services that I exist and could use some work.

Then I came home and had a good cry. :P

I'll be doing the online applications for the big boxes tomorrow too. At least I know they're actually looking to hire now and will be processing next week.

I am still collecting unemployment so I can't even temp or I'll lose my health insurance. Which sucks.

Health insurance, I've forgotten what it was like to have it. Not being able to temp in order to keep it, that really sucks.
